Sunrise light on a grove of tufa towers emerging from the water of Mono Lake with soft green and dusty-red wild grasses in the foreground, Canada geese in the shallow water with reflections of the rocky towers, and desert hills in the distance.

Picnic and free concert on Sunday, June 16

Make your way to Mono Lake County Park this Sunday, June 16 at noon for a picnic and free concert—it’s the perfect way to get your summer started, and a great Father’s Day celebration!

You can bring your own lunch, but a delicious lunch will be for sale for $10 per meal at the park: hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and garden burgers with all the toppings, plus a summer salad, dessert, and drink. All proceeds from lunch benefit the Lee Vining High School, so it goes to a great cause.

This year we’re excited to have The Trespassers playing original string band and bluegrass music at the park! The Trespassers routinely pack the lawn when they play at the Mobil in Lee Vining, drawing crowds from the west side near their Sonoma home, from Tuolumne, and from all over the Eastside. Their music is perfect for kicking up your heels on the lawn or for laying in the grass with a cold drink … you don’t want to miss them.

To get to County Park from Lee Vining, head north on Highway 395 approximately 5 miles and turn right on Cemetery Road. Go down the hill and look for parking directions. Carpooling from Lee Vining is highly recommended.
